The sentencing for 39-year-old Jelani Maraj, has been pushed back to late March. Brother to the Trinidad born rap queen Nicki Minaj, Jelani Maraj is facing life in prison for the rape of his 11-year-old stepdaughter. However, the trial was postponed due to Maraj’s attorney filing a petition to have the trial thrown out.

According to the police, Maraj’s semen was found on his stepdaughter’s pajama’s. Maraj’s lawyer said that the child’s mother, Jacquelin Robinson was trying to extort Maraj and Nicki out of $25 Million. The defense also said that Robinson accused Maraj of coaching the daughter on how to have anal sex.

“He told me to take off my pants,” the victim said. “He told me to come under the covers with him, and he started to caress my back.”

The now 14-year-old victim claims that Maraj raped her repeatedly for months and called her his “puppet”. In August 2015, the victim’s brother found Maraj sexually assaulting her.

“He would call me his puppet and told me I had no say in what he did to me,”

Reports claimed that Nicki was going to testify on behalf of her brother, but the leader of the Barbs never took the stand. It was later revealed that Nicki no longer had a close relationship with her brother since he was charged. Nicki recently took a break from social media to work on her follow up to her 2014 album, The Pinkprint.

Nicki Minaj’s brother was found guilty of predatory sexual assault and acting in a manner injurious to a child on Nov. 9, 2017. A Nassau County Supreme Court Judge has yet to rule on the motion to vacate the guilty verdict. We’ll keep you updated with any new developments.
